Our Story

1980's

Early beginnings

In 1982, Jim joined Roger Staubach as an original member of The Staubach Company and served as CFO, and later President, where he designed, recapitalized, and launched the strategic plan of pioneering the tenant representation industry. Over a 20-year period, Jim provided important functional experience in the executive management of TSC. The company grew from 5 people in one Dallas office to over 1,200 people across 50 offices nationwide.

By the late 80’s, Joe, working under contract with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, directed a team of thirty real estate professionals in the management and liquidation of approximately $8.0 billion of real estate assets and mortgages from insolvent Savings & Loans under government control.

Financial Services, Development Expansion, & Partnerships

Jim and Joe formed multiple new ventures resulting in billions of dollars’ worth of transactions, the development of over 8,000 ground-up multifamily units, and the purchase and sale of tens of millions of square feet of office space and numerous Multifamily developments. At TSC, Jim formed the Financial Services Division; its activities led to an expansion of the division’s capabilities to include over $8 billion of sale-leaseback purchases and over $3 billion of financing for clients around the world.

During this time, Joe, as a Senior Vice President of GE Capital, successfully managed and liquidated 4 joint venture transactions with commercial real estate assets valued in excess of $3.0 billion. Additionally, Joe held Executive roles with multiple real estate organizations including family offices, a private REIT, and a large private equity fund. During this period Joe acquired and financed commercial real estate assets valued in excess of $1.5 billion.

After joining Wolverine in 2010 Joe has represented several high-net-worth investors acquire and finance 14 office buildings totaling in excess of 2.9 million square feet of office space. Post-acquisition, Joe continues to direct the property management, asset management, and leasing of 1.4 million square feet in 7 of the previous acquisitions.

Beginning in 2013, James Leslie joined the firm. Working alongside his father, Jim, he continues to bring fresh and creative perspectives to the business, while providing invaluable financial analysis and assessments for each project.

Nadia, Partner at Wolverine Interests, founded Petersen Construction in 2014, specializing in custom single-family homes and construction management services.
